Muse Shoes

Muse Shoes

My friend Tina Tarnoff, an artist extraordinaire, sent me the loveliest gift today: A papercut she created of striped flats with pink bows. What a fantastic surprise! I love wearing ballerina flats and a few weeks ago I started a group on Facebook (just for fun) called the International Society of Girls in Flats. It's grown to than 300 members! It includes many of my past and present girlfriends at the Los Angeles Times, with the exception of Carla Hall who says she won't join because she only wears heels. (I still love you Carla.) The group also includes my poor husband, who is the only male member from what I can tell.

And now, thanks to the lovely Ms. Tarnoff, the group has an official logo!

Please visit Tina's fabulous Etsy store {here} and her blog, Thought Patterns, {here}. (She lives in San Francisco and writes about it so beautifully.)

So cute! Thanks for introducing me to Tina's Etsy shop. I hadn't run across it before and she's incredibly talented -- love the Marie Antoinette cut!

Hey it's the Muse shoes!!!! I am so happy you like them, Tina. They were made with you in mind (and inspired by your pink Jacques Fath cape that I adore! I would have used leopard print paper but couldn't find it) And the flats have become the logo of the International Society of Girls in Flats! Hurray! I'm off to join right now, even though I'm trying hard not to join anything at all that resembles Facebook or Twitter - I am quite prone to become addicted to these things, so I better stay away, or otherwise I will be checking my facebook stats 50 times a day.

I am also trying hard to wear more heels. I am actually fighting off my flats addiction. Ah, to hell with it, International Society of Girls in Flats it is!!!

Tina is so talented! Her papercuts are simply lovely. I had already hearted her shop (a new verb that I like very much, created thanks to Etsy). I hope to buy one soon!

P.S. I may have to join Facebook just to become a member of the Society. I've been resisting Facebook because I can't seem to manage all of the projects and hobbies I already have going!

I'm afraid I can't join your group; unless they're trainers I don't wear flats as they make my legs look like wrestlers arms.... I'm a proud purist heels wearer!

Definitely stopping by the Etsy shop now. I think we have a full blown girl-mance here. Very cute shoes!

I think we have to help Tina Tarnoff come to terms with the fact that it's the talented part of her that wants to wear flats. And I agree with our hostess that a girl in touch with her inner flat-wearer is unafraid to say that that mushy is good.

Fantastic shoes, and a lovely gesture of friendship! I am sooo happy there is a society of women that want to wear flats, and smashing flats at that! I am trotting barefooted to join, and will select my fab flats to flash after!

Halloo:

Queue the Mighty Mouse theme..."here I am, to save the day" (I think it's MM). Quickly as am borrowing friend's laptop in coffeeshop.

To end to agonies (FB/Twitter/flats...that is, because my neighbor-now-frenemy if she doesn't stop it, is snickering "...you have terminal agony...").

FB/Twitter -- you can face your addiction & do only as much as you want to. (Or not..if it's really that bad, then you know yourself best.) Having dial-up & a computer ready to crash keeps me grounded in that respect. That & the need to read-read, chase the cat, & such. I'll bet if I had DSL/wireless & a laptop, I would be in trouble a bit, too. (Though I would be able to take jobs I cannot now, so...)

Belonging to Twitter/FB (I gave in last summer & sometime last autumn, respectively) helps me censor/edit myself (in a good way). Every time I see the "what are you doing, thinking" prompt, sometimes I do type something & then think, "Who the hell cares? I don't even care really..." And I erase it. (It also "helps" to be unemployed & wonder: what would a potential employer think?)

RE: flats. Most of us have both heels & flats in the closet. If not, we can always admire the loveliness of beautiful shoes, their altitude or lack thereof, notwithstanding. As a sign of an open mind.

Love TTTT (or T4's) logo. Fantastic. I wish I could visit all the blogs but alas, I cannot. Be glad, really. As I would blab on & on...)

xoxo to all...especially our one male member...now there's an open mind!

Hi! Your blog is really nice, I like reading it. I'll have to dissapoint you if you want to read mine because it's in my language, Dutch. Maybe I'm going to start a blog in English because in that way I can practice the writing and more people will understand what I'm talking about =)

I love this card, I think it's wonderful when someone takes the time to create something and give it as a gift. Time seems to be going so fast and it moments like this, I feel time slows down a bit.
