Moving!

Hello everyone,

We're moving! We put the house up for sale and we found a gorgeous garden apartment, very 1960s mod. At the moment I'm trying to clear out 10 years worth of accumulated junk. I'm looking forward to a simpler life -- less stuff, smaller living expenses and more money to travel...

I promise to post photos of our new place in the coming days!

I'll miss our little rose-covered cottage, but mid-century modern seems so chic...

PS-- The winner of the vintage Japanese box is CHELSEA HAYWOOD!

Congrats on moving!

But my sympathies on having to sort through so much. I know I would be shedding tears over everything. Literally.

We are definitely small space dwellers. Life is much simpler this way! Enjoy your new journey...

We are moving also! Only we didn't sell our house... Haha.

I am so torn! I am excited for our new home, but not excited to pack and clean this one.

This move must be pretty overwhelming for you, but it sounds like you have so much to look forward to. Garden apartment and more travel opportunities? Sounds romantic and exciting! What is life, if not always an adventure, right?

Looking forward to those pics of the new place! xo

I'm moving as well soon from a three storey town-house in london to a large spacious late 60's house with no stairs. I'm very into mid-century at the moment....
Good luck...moving is traumatic..

I love moving: not the day itself but the way you're forced to look again at all you surround yourself with. And you can't beat the smell of new paint and flooring.

Good luck!

a tedious task, but something oh-so-zen-full with it :) Hope the move goes well and your new home warms you

We sold EVERYTHING in 2008 and have been traveling since - it's wonderful. We have just put an offer on a small house built in 1952 as a "retirement place" and I am looking forward to doing it up in a sort of appropriate period style.
My suggestion for the down-sizing is that you touch absolutely everything - and I mean everything - and ask if it is beautiful, useful or loved. If not one of the three - out it goes. Useful things stay if they are also beautiful or loved 0r can't be lived without. Now of the things that are left, ask who would want them if you were gone tomorrow and then give them to them now. Better to visit them than to duct them.

"dust, not duct -sorry

We're downsizing too! We figure its been a 3 year process sorting out 29 years of marriage accumulation and leftovers from 2 grown kids. The hardest part for me is my fabric stash and keeping toys for future grandkids! We've gone totally mid cent too and on a shoestring. Going to put our house on the market and looking for an Alexander home in Palm Springs, fingers crossed. Good Luck, what an adventure you're on!!!!!

Hahaha....when I saw this pic it made me laugh a bit, b/c we are doing the same right now, we sold our home in 6 days, we have lived in our home for 20 years and we have a 30 day escrow, so this means that we have been working really hard and I wished we could just move with our stuff in a little car...oh no we have used 3 big trucks and 3 big storage units, but happy to free ourselves to be able to travel, less maintanance, and just down sizing, happy moivng to us !!!!

Well, congrats on the new pad, Miss Tina!!! But, ugh!...moving! A blessing and a curse really as it can really help purge one's plethora of belongings. It's always hard for me in the beginning but once I get going I can clear out a lot. Books are seriously hard to part with so I have to put on my "practical" hat to get through that one. Can't wait to see the new digs! :)
