Caitlin McGauley's Watercolor World

This New York City artist has become the house illustrator for Lonny Magazine, with her charming watercolors:

She's also painted for Kate Spade and Hermes. Her work reminds me so much of Maira Kalman's -- whimsical and smart.

Oh I love these! I have always enjoyed magazines with illustrations by artists like Caitlin MacGauley. I remember the charming art work in Gourmet magazine and others. These watercolors are whimsical and smart, just as you described.

Why must watercolors look so easy? Are they mocking me? These are marvelous. Thank you.
