Meet Fashion Blogger and Author: Andrea Eames

Meet Andrea Eames, blogger, thrifter, fashionista and novelist. Andrea blogs her daily fashion
choices at her blog, A Cat of Impossible Color - most pieces she wears are cleverly thrifted by Andrea herself. Andrea has one published YA book and now her first novel has been purchased by a Random House branch, due to be published in 2011, and entitled Ngozi, meaning ' venegful ghosts' in zimbabwe (sorry the capital z is broken on my keyboard!)

Andrea has a light hearted writing style while addressing working from home, writing ideas and discussions, and fashion. As you can see she prefers a very feminine, old school vintage look. I've been reading her blog for over a year and love her daily updated photos of outfits and the writing life.

Here is the blurb of her novel, Ngozi :

Being a white Zimbabwean in the 1990s is a near-perfect life. Your clothes are always clean and ironed, there is always tea in the silver teapot, gins and tonics are served on the verandah, and, in theory at least, black and white live in harmony. As Mugabe’s presidency turns sour, however, this idyllic and privileged world begins to crumble into anarchy. Told through the eyes of a young girl, Ngozi follows the struggle of one troubled white family to stay afloat in the collapsing economy and escalating horror of Mugabe’s Zimbabwe. When the farm invasions begin, the violence threatens to destroy their way of life forever, and escaping the vengeful ghosts (‘ngozi’) of their past seems impossible. Can they stay, or must they go?

Tavi

Meet fashion's latest -- and perhaps youngest -- muse:
Tavi, the-13-year-old fashion blogger from Chicago.

tavi

Here she is on the cover of Pop Magazine, on newsstands this week. And that's not all...

tavi

Her Blogspot blog, Style Rookie, was featured in today's Wall Street Journal. It turns out Tavi's blog inspired the latest designs of fashion house Rodarte...

tavi

She's in New York for Fashion Week (with her dad) and Rodarte's designers, sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, have invited her to sit in the front row of their show on Tuesday.

This is how she describes herself:
"Tiny 13 year old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats. Scatters black petals on Rei Kawakubo's doorsteps and serenades her in rap. Rather cynical and cute as a drained rat. In a sewer. Farting. And spitting out guts."

Love her!

Joanna...

Joanna Goddard's mom posted this beautiful photo of Joanna on Facebook! I can't wait to hear all about the wedding. While Joanna's away on her honeymoon, she's been having a fantastic group of guest bloggers writing about the secrets to a happy marriage. So romantic...I love her blog, A Cup of Jo , which now has nearly 5,000 Google followers!

These very cute newlyweds, Naomi and Josh (aka Taza and the Prince), have one of the best couples blogs on the Internet (I think!) They post
gorgeous pictures -- taken with Polaroid, Holga and Diana cameras -- of their various trips to exotic locales.

It's a Lomographic feast!

It also made for a wonderful visual escape at the hospital today, where I spent six hours with my dad, who underwent a blood transfusion to address his severe anemia. (Thank you Huntington Hospital for having free Internet service!) Throughout the day, I showed him my favorite blogs and read him your amazing, beautiful comments. (He thinks you're all lovely!)

I wish I could adequately tell you how much I appreciate/love/need/cherish your kind words of support.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
so much. so much.

Shokoofeh

So many of us have been very concerned about our dear friend Shokoofeh at the blog A New Simple Something. It's not easy to be a young woman blogger in the country where she lives, especially now. I was very relieved to see that she was able to update her blog today with this beautiful picture. She is so brave and I'm so proud to know her.

The link to her lovely blog { here }.

UPDATE: A note from Shokoofeh:

"My heart has became an assortment of pain, hope, love and fear.
I don't know if you can feel what I am talking about. your country, your land, your people, your future, your love are just not in your hands and your heart is beating for them...
it's not easy. it's not easy at all...
but you and other lovely people are relieving our pain just by thinking about us ... and it's admirable indeed..."

dear, dear girl. please be safe

Anne Hathaway, Katarina at Lolita

DTeGzzj2Qo8qofxlSHSP49iDo1_500
I'm always dazzled by the images Katarina at Lolita finds for her blog (Lolitas.se) and her tumblr, Tatielle. It's one of the most original collections on the Internet. I love this image (above) on Tatielle of Anne Hathaway against a Fornasetti backdrop.

I met Katarina, via email, when I first started blogging and she was wonderfully helpful and kind. Recently, Sophie at Fix on This did an article on her. She is beautiful (photo below) and immensely creative. She's been studying theatre in Stockholm (she's graduating next week) and talent runs in her family (her mother is a fashion illustrator.)

Here's the link to her interview.

Mädchenblogt

Mädchenblogt
Katarina at Lolita discovered the most fantastic German blog called Mädchenblogt, by the lovely Nicole Kellmann. Nicole is constantly traveling through Europe (and posting the most beautiful photos). Here's a little sampling above. I love the "don't take it serious" sign. That's going to be my new motto!

French Blogs!

Alas, the tea party is over.  It's raining again. I spent some time this evening reading my favorite blogs in Australia before moving over to France. At the moment, my most visited French decor + photo blog is Gris-bleu, created by the incomparable Phillippe, a graphic artist and photographer. (See above)  It's like falling into a Marie Antoinette fantasy land. He has fantastic taste (and blog links!) Also recommended: Ciel d'OrageLa Mule de Pape and Les Jardins de Kahlan.

Update: I've started a "Blogs Abroad" category to list some of the wonderful blogs overseas. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
