Would you rather listen to Édith Piaf on a record player...
Or on a CD? Another beautiful dilemma, yes? I always think about the scene in Bull Durham when Susan Sarandon is blasting Piaf on her turntable. (And Tim Robbins calls her the "crazy Mexican singer.") There are certain singers who just sound more romantic through the speaker of a record player. What do you think?

I am obsessed with my record player. I love to play Camera Obscura + The Finches on it. I think you are right. Edith Piaf should only be played on a record player.
I think all artists sound better through my record player. I actually played a bit of Edith this morning as I was getting ready for work :-) my favourite of hers is Padam Padam - what's yours?
Ok, I have a confession: I love to hand wash my lingerie while listening to Piaf.
Well, I do have both records and CD's. But my absolute preference is on the turntable! All that glorious crackle makes me swoon when combined with her soulful Francaise! I especially love listening on a very rainy day. What can I say? I guess I'm all about the drama!
SHUT DOWN! My word verification is "Proust"! Seriously?!! Cah-razy!
We use our turntable still. At Christmas we listen to Dylan Thomas reading A Child's Christmas in Wales. We were going to replace it but we love the pops and crackles. It's so much warmer.
I like Piaf too. Did you see Marion Coutillard play her in The Vie En Rose?
Great coincidence Beefy, mine is VERSE.
Piaf and Billie Holiday both need that background crackle that only a needle gives you. It's all part of the memory that goes with the first time you ever heard them. . .like the cigarette smoke.
One of the very reasons I love YouTube -- plenty of Edith Piaf.
