It's raining in Los Angeles, which makes me very happy. My plans for the evening are very basic. The highlights: Make dinner (something from
Trader Joes), take a long bubble bath in my clawfoot tub and curl up with a book. I just started Ian McEwan's "On Chesil Beach." I usually wait until books come out in paperback because it's easier to write in the margins and underline beautiful passages. (Plus I always feel bad about marking up hardbacks.) I thought "Atonement" was brilliant, so I'm interested to see how this new one compares!

sounds like a LOVELY friday. Let us know how the book goes :)
enjoy the rain, i'm most happy under rainfall
I went through a box of kleenex when I read Atonement.
I gave up kleenex and just wept into a galvanized bucket. You'll love this new novel, cooler and with that sense of bravery in the face of sadness that he catches without denying the importance of either one. Boy, can you tell I was an English major. . .oh, well.
I have such witty readers! Thank you for visiting my site!
I don't like him and I'd rather read hardbacks, but I like your blog very much. thanks for writing
Deborah,
Thank you! come back again...
i love it when it rains. That's such a nice picture, btw!
A girl after my own heart. I've been desperately hoping for rain here in Seattle and I'm on the verge of trying rain-dancing. Or DIY cloud-seeding. And you also like Ian McEwan. He's brilliant! I discovered him through "Enduring Love." Now all you just need a glass of Port and Chocolate Torte - but I could be projecting.
