Hot Vanilla Sky

sunset plaza

It's hot and sticky out today, one of those days in Los Angeles when the sky has turned blue-grey mixed with patches of vanilla (In other words: fog mixed with smog.) I'm so tired I feel jet lagged. My dad had a relapse on Monday and was readmitted to the hospital. I spent the night there on a lumpy cot last night -- the longest night ever! It makes him happy when I blog (and show him the pictures). So I'm blogging like crazy. You spend your life knowing that your parents will get sick someday with something that can't be cured. I'm just not ready for this to be the day....

I am sorry to hear about your Dad! I will keep him in my prayers.

I love how you make the LA smog sound pretty by calling it vanilla, lol.

I'm so sorry to hear that he has relapsed! I wish him a speedy recovery and a healthier return home!

I want to send him a virtual flower! I hope that he enjoys it. I just processed it and it comes in a variety of colors. I wanted to pick the one that seems happy!

Tina -- when my mom had a stroke at only 62, I freaked. After that first big set back, things sort of get easier to handle, but never "easy." Hoping all the best for your dad and your family, Tina.

I thought you were uncharacteristically quiet, so came looking for you! Sorry for the relapse. Hi Pop! In case you dad gets to read these emails - thought I would throw that in.
Guess what? I just bought a little Holga camera! Wont arrive for awhile but am planning a fun photo shoot.
Take good care Tina and the Popster.

I love the title of this...vanilla sky...what a great observation and take on something otherwise bleak.

Sorry about your dad; that is a very tough thing to go through...

I'm sorry for everything that is happening right now. I know how scary it can be. I don't think we are ever ready to see our parents failing. You and your Dad will be in my thoughts and prayers. A big hug is being sent your way for both you and your Dad.

Dear Tina,
So sorry to hear about your dad. How sad. Its true its hard to imagine letting go of one's beloved parents.
But in a sense they are always with you - no matter what. Hang in there.

Sweet thoughts and prayers for you all. Love the imagery.

So sorry to hear this, Tina — I hope your Dad is up and around again really soon. Sending lots of good vibes your way! In the meantime, stay focused on the positive — because this too shall pass.

Take care

It's true what you say that we all expect our parents to get sick someday but when it happens, it doesnt make it any easier. When my mother was sick with the "C" word I thought it was a death sentence. BUT she has now in recovery and has been for 5 years. Im sending all of my good wishes, positive thoughts and love to you and your family.

Oh, no, dearest Tina, I'm so sorry he had a relapse. In situations like this, I've learned that most important thing is to avoid negative thoughts, despair and sadness. Your dad will be all right and that is how you should think - and most importantly believe. And that will help his recovery. And, you shoud know that all of us, your faithfull readers, are sending good vibes your father's way. And that's at least 1500 of us! That is a lot of good vibes!!! Give my love to your dad, and I agree with one of the comments above, he must be a fabulous man because he raised you, lovely! Much love, Tina! xoxox

Sorry to hear about your Dad. It is a horrible feeling when our 'rock' gets sick. Take 'Valerian' tablets to help you through the low feelings. They are only herbal, but help to calm.
Keep blogging, we all enjoy it too. Write a list of twenty things that you love about your dad, or what you are thankful to him for bringing to your life, and give it to him TODAY! Before anything else happens. And then, at least you have let him know all those little impacts he has had on your life. Tell him you want to be able to write twenty more one day, so he needs to stick around! At least you would have had a moment of depth together, if things were to get worse. Take care...pray. xxx

Tina, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My own father's health has been precarious for almost 15 years. I have learned that it's sometimes beneficial to go ahead and have a good cry, feel sorry for yourself, be mad at the world and once you have done that and there are no more tears to cry, pick yourself up and tackle the day. Life can be short, too short...make each day with your dad count. Hug him and tell him you love him and make him giggle and pass the time.
Chin up, young person.

Oh, Tina. I'm so sorry...this has to be so hard. NOne of us is ready for it to be that day, ever. My mother has had cancer twice in her life and survived both. But I was very young the first time, so I have always known that that eventuality hung in the air. I have always held her to me extra-tight in my heart because of it.

Hi sweetie. I'm not giving any advice. Thinking about this & others. Let us know what sorts of things your dad likes (like the flowers) & one thing I can do, for instance, is search for great images, paintings, & such. And then post them for him (on either blog). Your dad is an artist, yes? What's his thing(s)? Going out later for dental repair-torture (I am not kidding), but will check subscribe to the comment follow-ups.

MOLTI GRANDE BACINI, Bella Tina!
