Los Angeles Fires

Time Lapse Test: Station Fire from Eric Spiegelman on Vimeo.

Check out this amazing Vimeo video of the Los Angeles wildfires. Over the weekend, we could see the flames some miles away on the San Gabriel Mountains from our frontyard. So far the blaze has consumed 105,000 acres -- and it's still burning out of control. (We're staying inside with the air conditioning on.)

Here's a photo from our vantage point:

This photo from LA City Hall was taken by my friend Terry Benichou:

I can see the smoke from the Station Fire as well. It's really terrible...I used to go to those mountains every winter to play in the snow. I wonder what the scenes will be like this winter... hope the fire will be extinguished soon, even though it's estimated to be contained around September 15.

I just got back from spending the week in Laguna Beach and we made a day trip up to Hollywood and saw the smoke but were surprised there wasn't any ash. In any case, stay safe!

I really wonder sometimes how much one state can take. It's so sad to see these photos and worry about our friends and family there.

This is so horrible and scary, Tina, I can't even bear to think about it. So, so, sad. Stay indoors, my lovely and stay safe.

Aside from the actual fire (sidenote: that video is crazy) I can only imagine that what we are breathing in is less than stellar! :\

I live in Laurel Canyon and this morning there was a bunch of ash on my car even though we are apparently not even downwind. The size of it is crazy!
