Hello everyone! I've been enjoying this evening looking at the flickr photos coming out of Europe on the volcano eruption in Iceland. This one, taken by mark1alpha on Chesil Beach in Portland, UK, is one of my favorites, with the ash turning the sunset red. Flickr has a blog post of other gorgeous volcanic sunset photos here. Lovely how the sun seems especially jumbo sized.
I took my friend Elaine to LAX last night for her flight back to Paris, where she lives half of the year. I was so happy to learn this morning that she safely made it home before they shutdown the airports.
An important PS:
Thank you all for your thoughtful, touching comments on my Isabella post earlier this week! Bella was so heartened to read them. They gave her a boost of confidence like you wouldn't believe. I wish I could reach through the computer and give you all virtual hugs. Thank you, thank you!

That's all ash? I totally thought it was water.

Wonderful picture - its good to remind us of the beauty of it as its caused untold chaos here in the UK! I have family stranded in all sorts of places and no idea when they can get home! Ah well - its nature's way of reminding us that our aeroplanes are not the dominant force ;-)
Crazy picture! Glad to hear your Isabella is feeling cheerier as well :)
its amazing how beautiful something so destructive can be,

thanks for the virtual hug :) Know that Isabella gets them everyday from our house. She is gonna be better than great!
Beautiful photo!! And I'm sure that Bella will make her transition with ease. She is obviously a very talented and special girl. I have a daughter like her, aren't we the luckiest of moms?
So beautiful! It looks good enough to eat!

I live in Germany (near Frankfurt) and well, the sky is a bit grey indeed (especially at the horizon) or at least it's not as blue as normally. Our sunsets are not SO colorful as they said they would be, but what strikes me most (and gives the whole thing an air of "something's different") is the complete absence of traffic in the air. Not a single airplane to be seen.. for days. I am so happy that I don't have to go anywhere by train in these days.
breathtaking. i loved waking up to this photo this morning. Thank you Tina.
That video was amazing! You are so blessed to have a daughter like her. She shouldn't let anyone break her spirit! She's amazing!
I fell in love with the video, what a way to face a new beginning.
Good luck to you and your family!
Your daughter is amazing.
