I just started reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt.
I think it's going to be very good although I'm sure I'm going to cry.
Oh, I read it last summer and thoroughly enjoyed it! Now I'm reading The Charming Quirks of Others, by Alexander McCall Smith.
Let me tell you that you'll shed many tears along the way, but it's a good thing. Angela's Ashes is one of my favorite reads of all time, I tend to go back and skim through it all the time. I think it was what got me into Ireland so much in the first place- it's effectiveness will be better understood considering since then I have stayed and studied there for a little while and I can even speak a bit of Irish Gaelic now :)
Right now I'm still working on "Murmures a Beyoglu"(this would be "whispers in beyoglu" in french- I don't think it has been translated to english yet)on one's roots, isolation and modern life. Very, very bright.
And though it's not my usual genre, I'm supposed to read "Unlimit Yourself", which is on a self-development and motivation, for a work project. And it's going surprisingly well and enjoyable so far.
I loved The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. The second book in that series is great too. I just finished Nick Hornby's hilarious The Polysyllabic Spree and am now reading Jasper Fforde's wonderful Shades of Grey.
Got through a tough week with some smart chick lit - "Because She Can" by Bridie Clark.
This weekend, I'm breezing through Nora Ephron's fun new collection of essays, "I Remember Nothing" and starting "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet" by David Mitchell.
I'll have to check out "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie." The title hooked me! :)
i started mark twain's newly released autobiography. i'm loving it! i had to have "the book," not just download it... still not used to that ;)
I'm halfway through THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE DEATH by Charles Finch. It is also a mystery set in England (albeit in 1865) and is the first in a series. I'm really enjoying it thus far -- it has an intricate plot and many period details that I love.
I've been working on Loving Frank by Nancy Horan. I"m just about finished :)

I'm trying to finish Strunk and White's 'Elements of Style.' How can 85 pages take so long?
Oooohhhh - lots of great ideas for books to read from everybody's posts. Can't wait to check them out! Currently reading "Eat, Pray, Love" but I'm having a hard time connecting with it. "Elements of Style" - been there, done that. I refer to it often.
"Charms for the Easy Life" is an older book but a great read. :)

I'm reading "The Piano Teacher" by Janice Y.K. Lee. It's her first book and I'm really enjoying it. It's set in Post World War 2 Hong Kong....very compelling story.

I have just finished an amazing book, "The Shadow of the Wind". Finishing this book was like loosing a friend..I knew that I would feel this way by page 2. This is absolutely a must read
