Audrey Tautou & Chanel

Hello everyone! The latest Audrey Tautou Chanel 5 commercial just aired here during a red carpet show before the Emmys. Here's the long version, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who worked with Tautou in Amelie.

The commercial was based on a scene from A Very Long Engagement and it was filmed in a railway station in Nice and on the Bosphorus in Istanbul! If that's not romantic enough, it also features Billie Holiday's "I'm a Fool to Want You." Ok, I'm swooning.

Can't wait to see Tautou in the Coco Chanel movie! Have you seen it yet?

Sunday Morning w/ Marc Jacobs

Hello...Happy Sunday....
picnikfile_1AEF6D

I always spend Sunday mornings catching up on my reading: Newspapers, magazines, blogs and, this week, runway photos from New York...

I love Marc Jacobs' new designs for his casual Marc line...

So colorful, like chic magpies. I'm trying to pick a favorite...The girl with the purple plaid shirt and the blue flowered skirt? Or maybe the one wearing polka dots? What do you think?....I wonder if I could get away with wearing the big bunny-ear bow. Probably not. But it provides fodder for such a lovely game of mental dress up!

Humanizing the Devil?

Are you going to see The September Issue,
the documentary about Anna Wintour and Vogue?

I can't wait to see it. My friend Mary Pols reviewed the documentary for Time Magazine last month. She wrote: "The Wintour we meet is still capable of the kind of arbitrary intimidations that might inspire a damning best seller. But this empress definitely is wearing clothes. Flattering ones."

Lula

Have you seen Lula Magazine? It's my new favorite. The magazine's website is still under construction, but there's a fantastic Lula fan site on Facebook -- with lots of pictures. I especially love the photo of the girl with the polka-dot tears. (The photos of Kirsten Dunst and Keira Knightley are pretty wonderful too.)

Tavi

Meet fashion's latest -- and perhaps youngest -- muse:
Tavi, the-13-year-old fashion blogger from Chicago.

tavi

Here she is on the cover of Pop Magazine, on newsstands this week. And that's not all...

tavi

Her Blogspot blog, Style Rookie, was featured in today's Wall Street Journal. It turns out Tavi's blog inspired the latest designs of fashion house Rodarte...

tavi

She's in New York for Fashion Week (with her dad) and Rodarte's designers, sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, have invited her to sit in the front row of their show on Tuesday.

This is how she describes herself:
"Tiny 13 year old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats. Scatters black petals on Rei Kawakubo's doorsteps and serenades her in rap. Rather cynical and cute as a drained rat. In a sewer. Farting. And spitting out guts."

Love her!

NYC Fashion Week Frenzy

High-heeled paparazzi go wild getting celphone pics of Olsen twins!

Crowd twitters as girls give out lemonade at Bergdorfs!

I'm living vicariously through the Twitter posts on NYC Fashion week this evening. New York Magazine's @cutblog was especially funny/mean. They offered this observation on the Olsen twin frenzy: "Fundamental issue with Olsen melee: The girls are simply too short to be visible when surrounded by a crowd. Midget fail."

Beware of fashionistas with wit and twitpic.

Fashion Doyenne: Deborah Lloyd

Picture 1
Kate Spade's New York Creative Director Deborah Lloyd learned how to sew on her grandmother's Singer. By the time she was in grammar school, she was tailoring her own uniforms (skirts shorter than most) and sketching designs in her school notebooks.

It's no surprise that she has fantastic taste. Here are a few of the people and things that inspire her:

Jean Shrimpton and vintage jewels...

Colorful Kate Spade boxes and Faye Dunaway...

And a number of other lovely things...read more about Deborah on Kate Spade's fantastic Behind the Curtain website.

Dear Moschino,

You've got style
That's what all the girls say
Satin sheets
And luxuries so fine
All your clothes are custom made in Italy
You've got something that I really like

Dress me up in my love
All over, all over
Dress me up in my love
All over my body

Let me feel the silky touch of your caresses
They will keep me looking so brand new
Cover me with your velvet kisses
Give me this look -- it's made for me!

Dress me up in my love
In my love
All over my body
From my head down to my toes

Girls in Flats

flats
Our Facebook group, the International Society of Girls in Flats, has now grown to 680 members! Check it out here! (Don't forget to join!)

Hope you have a lovely Saturday. Depending how my dad is feeling, we might try to make a little trip to the beach for lunch.

Ruffian Inspiration

ruffian

The Assouline book about the two men behind the NYC-based fashion label, Ruffian, is finally in bookstores. It's a really wonderful account of the creative process that goes into making a classic, yet edgy, line of women's clothing...

If you don't know about Ruffian, check out my post at Ms. Muse! There's more from the book, "Ruffian Inside Out," and a link to the very chic
Ruffian website...

Isabel Toledo Exhibition

I would love to take a little trip to NYC this summer to see the Isabel Toledo exhibition at the Museum at FIT. (It opens on June 17.) I couldn't resist tearing these ads for the show out of my Harper's Bazaar this month.

The ads are by Nordstrom and they're awesome. Photography by Ruven Afanador. Typography by Isabel's husband, Ruben Toledo. And designs by Isabel, who is featured in the top photo. The gorgeous Crystal Renn is in the second photo followed by Alek Wek and Carmen Dell'Orefice.

Marvelous.

I love these photos by the legendary fashion photographer John Rawlings (1912-1970). It's hard to pick a favorite, although I'm very fond of that leopard print coat. Has anyone seen François Truffaut's film "Bed and Board"? There's a line in the movie that will forever change the way you look at leopard print...

Evening Toast

It's evening and I finally have a chance to relax. I've been continuing to flip through the Toast catalogues online. I spotted this picture. I love this look: Boots with black tights and a print skirt. I also love how the scarf matches the jacket. What do you think?
